What is PBL?

Appin Public School is a PBL school. PBL has helped us to reduce challenging and unproductive behaviour for most students. We aim to create a positive environment for students. Students are taught what is expected of them and staff are consistent in responding to student learning and behaviour needs. Our aim is for students to feel safe and cared for at school and for their parents, family and community to be involved in their education.

Positive Behaviour for Learning is known as PBL.

PBL is a whole school system that supports us to create positive learning environments that enable student learning and wellbeing.

Successful implementation of PBL is underpinned by the support and commitment of the whole school community.

PBL is based on a continuum of prevention and intervention:

  • Tier 1 - School-wide and classroom systems for all students, staff and settings.
  • Tier 2 - Systems for small groups of students who experience difficulty choosing appropriate behaviour or students with additional learning needs.
  • Tier 3 - Systems for students with significant behaviour and/or learning needs.
