Money Matters

Money Matters

Money

All payments should be sent to school in an envelope clearly marked with the child's name and class, the amount enclosed and the name of the activity.  This can be taken to the office any morning from 8:30-9:00am. The school has EFTPOS facilities (but EFTPOS cannot be used for uniform purchases as this is run by P&C).

Photocopy Levy/Software Levy

In 2015 parents are asked to pay a total of $40 per student to cover the cost of photocopying and access to quality computer software (Mathletics and Reading Eggs) that your child will use at school and can also access at home. A fee of $20 for access to two software products is good value and a fee of $20 towards photocopying expenses for the year is still considerably cheaper than purchasing text books.

We thank you for your support in paying these fees promptly. They can be paid in instalments. Please contact Mrs Harrison if financial assistance is required.

Voluntary Contribution – School Fees

This year we are asking parents to make a Voluntary Contribution of $40 per student (just $1 per week) or $60 per family (2 or more children). This fee can be paid in full or in amounts of $10 per term. Eftpos facilities are also available. Cheques should be made out to Appin Public School.

CAPA Levy

In the past, school has used school funds to ensure the dance program could run and students could take part in performance opportunities such as School Spectacular. It is not possible to run this program on a cost recovery basis, as each student would need to pay in excess of $300 to participate.

This year we are asking the parents of all students involved in school Band and Dance groups to pay a fee of $20 per term to ensure we have the funds to support these programs equitably. The $20 CAPA levy provides students with access to both Dance and Band groups for the one $20 fee.

The levy provides families with affordable access to the band program and will hopefully encourage more students to be a part of the school band. The levy replaces the weekly fee that band members previously paid. Students need only pay for the hire of their instrument if needed.

In addition to the money contributed by parents through the CAPA levy, school will commit money from the lease of the canteen to support classroom creative arts programs across the school.

Parents who experience financial difficulty and are unable to meet these costs are asked to speak to Mrs Walsh to negotiate some support.

Financial Assistance

A small amount of money is available to the school to assist families experiencing financial hardship in meeting educational costs for their child/ren.  If this is the case please contact the class teacher or the Principal to discuss the matter.  All details are confidential.

School Canteen

Our Canteen is currently tendered by ‘Alli's Lunchbox'. The canteen is open from 9am to 11:30pm each day. Lunch orders should be placed by 9am each morning.

Student Banking

All students are able to bank with the Commonwealth Bank at the school each Monday.  Student Bank Books are to be left at the Office from 8:30-9am and are returned to children on Tuesdays. The school receives a small commission for facilitating student banking.

Parents and Citizens Association

The P&C meets at 7:00pm on the 4th Tuesday night of the month in the Library. Days and times are advertised in the School Newsletter. P&C is a great way to find out about what is happening in your child's school, to meet other parents and to assist in fundraising to purchase resources that make school a more interesting and comfortable place for students. New parents are very welcome to attend. No experience necessary!
