Appin Public School has approximately 316 students drawn from a range of socio-economic backgrounds. A small percentage of students come from NESB (2%) or Aboriginal (10%) backgrounds. The 13 classes are usually stage based or cross stage class groupings. We have a mix of experienced, beginning, temporary and permanent teachers. Our school also has a number of part time support staff. All classrooms are air conditioned and interactive white boards, computers, laptops and ipads are used to support student learning in all classrooms. There is a high degree of parent interest and participation in school activities. Our P&C is active in fundraising to purchase resources to support school programs.
Appin Public School is located in a semi-rural area, between Wollongong and Campbelltown. It has an active School Council and P & C. It strives to provide a high quality education within a safe and challenging setting. Quality teaching and learning experiences in a happy and stable environment provide the foundation for students to co-operate, succeed and to grow as learners, individuals and members of society. Parents are encouraged to support students within the school and the classroom. The school is recognised for its strong focus on traditional educational priorities blended with modern educational techniques. Early assessment of student need and individual support is given priority. Computers with Internet access are available to students in every classroom.
